Preview: UNC vs. Appalachian State

UNC’s had the week off due to exams and resumes action against the instate Mountaineers of App State. Coming out of the So-Con, App hasn’t done much this season and it better known for its football team, but you never know what could happen.

  • Junior Jamaal Trice leads the Mountaineers. A former UCONN recruit, Trice transferred after his freshman year in Storrs. The forward score close to 13 ppg while shooting better than 45 percent from three.
  • Omar Carter is also averaging over 12 ppg. The senior guard is a Charleston Southern transfer and also adds over 6 rebounds a contest.
  • App State is 4-5 on the year including a 1-3 on the road. Losses have come to Minnesota, East Carolina and East Tennessee State twice. App was picked to finish second in its SoCon division behind conference favorite Chattanooga.
  • This is how App State ranks nationally: Scoring, 218th; Rebounds per Game, 87th; Assists per Game, 155th; Field Goal Percentage, 195th.
  • This is how UNC ranks nationally: Scoring, 7th; Rebounds per Game, 4th; Assists per Game, 3rd; Field Goal Percentage, 23rd.
App is only averaging 66 points a game. It will take a Saran wrap over the hoop for the Heels to lose. *knocks on wood*
Prediction: UNC 102, Appalachian State 68
