Roy Williams Tie Tracker: Hofstra
One thing all UNC fans have come to know, love and expect of Roy Williams is his fashionable selection of ties, most often courtesy of Chapel Hill outfitter Alexander Julian. The same man who put the argyle on the side of the basketball uniform is still turning heads with what he’s putting around Ol’ Roy’s neck. So, here at The Rafters we decided to pay homage to the best accesory in college hoops, if not the entire sporting world, and document every tie Roy Williams wears this season.
Unfortunately, despite how well the Heels played, we don’t have much to cover on our tie section of the blog. Roy went casual down in the islands with a Carolina blue polo, emblazoned with an interlocking NC chest embroidery and what looks like a Puerto Rico Tip-Off logo on the sleeve.
There was an interesting item on Roy’s right wrist, however.
Baseball fans may have noticed the recent influx of what appear to be large, braided necklaces on players on all levels, especially major league pitchers. These ridiculous titanium neck accessories are manufactured by Phiten and supposedly “work with your body’s energy system, helping to regulate and balance the flow of energy throughout your body.” Now this is all lies, but that’s another story.
Phiten also sells bracelets. Could Ol’ Roy be hopping on this new fangled health craze? I don’t know. I’m kind digging here. Check out another view.
If you compare Roy’s bracelet to the one on Phiten’s website, they do not look identical by any means, but the circular portion in the middle of the bracelet is what gets me. Maybe the titanium helps Roy with his dizzy spells.
Here’s this years stats:
