Roy Williams Tie Tracker: North Carolina Central & Florida International
One thing all UNC fans have come to know, love and expect of Roy Williams is his fashionable selection of ties, most often courtesy of Chapel Hill outfitter Alexander Julian. The same man who put the argyle on the side of the basketball uniform is still turning heads with what he’s putting around Ol’ Roy’s neck. So, here at The Rafters we decided to pay homage to the best accesory in college hoops, if not the entire sporting world, and document every tie Roy Williams wears this season.
Game one against FIU, Roy came out strong with a nice small paisley print in dark and aquaish blues.
Looks real good with the pin stripes, no?
Last night in the win over NCCU, Roy again pulls the paisley card but this time goes with a gold, Carolina and navy blue pattern that is much larger.
I’m also going to address Roy and his use of the pocket square. Very underutilized and very classy touch to finish the look. Notice how they match the shirts.
Bonus: Roy’s stripped red, navy and gold tie from the Belmont Abbey exhibition, sans pocket square. Can’t waste all the suave during the pre-season I guess.
I think it is obvious here who’s the best dressed coach in the ACC.
Yes, Sidney Lowe, Roy Williams dresses better than you.
What, you want to be recognized as No. 1 on the best-dressed ACC coaches list? Coach K, please. You look like Nixon’s press secretary.
Check back after each game to see Roy’s choice of neckwear.
