UNC gets Top 25 2012 recruit Brice Johnson

Update: a previous version incorrectly stated that Johnson is from Edisto, S.C. He is from Cordova.

Not content to simply be getting his team ready for its exhibition opener against Pembroke on Friday night, Roy Williams nabbed another top recruit to a stellar 2012 class that already includes Top 100 players Marcus Paige (PG, No. 28), Joel James (C, No. 57) and J.P. Tokoto (SF, No. 65).

This morning Brice Johnson, a power forward from Edisto Cordova, S.C., committed to the Tar Heels to help solidify what ESPN says is the second best recruiting class in the nation, behind Arizona’s three, Top 36  players. Johnson is ranked No. 25 in the class and is the highest rated prospect of UNC’s big haul for 2012. Carolina is still in the mix for No. 2 overall prospect Mitch McGary, No. 6 Kaleb Tarczewski and No. 23 T.J. Warren, though with Johnson committing the landscape might get shaken up a bit.
